What is Chuck Taylor All Star?

If you're not much of a sneakerhead or OG Converse stan, the terms 'All Stars', 'CTAS', and 'Chuck Taylor All Stars' are probably lost on you. These all refer to the same pair of classic shoes.
Converse actually started out making non-skid, rubber sole canvas basketball shoes(!). In 1921, Charles Taylor, a basketball player, joined Converse and helped redesign them to add ankle support and improve flexibility, along with his signature ankle patch.
With this, the Chuck Taylor All Stars was born.
